Vaulta

Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 October 2026

Vaulta is a money and receipt manager published by HSM Software. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: everything you enter stays on your phone, and we receive none of it.

What we collect

Nothing. This version of Vaulta has no working account, no sign-in and no server. We do not collect, receive, sell or share any personal or financial information.

What stays on your device

Everything you enter — accounts, transactions and transfers, receipts and the photos, image files and PDFs you attach to them, warranties, bills, subscriptions, budgets, savings goals, debts, reminders and settings — is stored in Vaulta’s private storage on your device.

That data is protected by your device: its screen lock and the operating system’s separation between apps. Vaulta does not add its own encryption to its database or to your receipt files, so anyone who can unlock your phone and open Vaulta can see them.

Camera, photos and files

When you add a receipt you can take a photo, choose one from your photos, or pick a file. Only the item you choose is copied into Vaulta; the app does not browse your photo library or your files. On iPhone, the system may ask your permission for the camera or photos the first time. On Android, Vaulta uses the system’s own camera and file pickers and asks for no camera or storage permission.

Reading receipts

When you scan a receipt, its text is read on your phone by a recognition engine built into the app (Tesseract). The image is not sent anywhere. What it finds is shown to you for review, and only the values you confirm are saved; the recognized text itself is not kept.

Reminders

If you turn on reminders for bills, subscriptions, warranties, debts or recurring transactions, Vaulta asks permission to show notifications. They are scheduled on your phone and set up again after it restarts. A notification only says what kind of item needs attention, such as “A bill is due soon” — never a name or an amount.

Internet access

The Android app declares the internet permission, but no feature in this version uses it: there is no server for it to talk to, and the app sends none of your data anywhere.

Sign-in, cloud sync and shared spaces

Vaulta contains screens for an online account, cloud sync and shared household spaces. In this version none of them is connected to a server: they say that online accounts and cloud sync are not available yet, no account can be created, and nothing is uploaded. If we ever turn any of them on, we will update this policy first.

Third parties

Vaulta contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no third-party tracking or software development kits. It does not read or hold your device’s advertising ID. The libraries it is built with, including the receipt reader, run inside the app on your device.

Backups and moving to a new phone

Nothing is backed up automatically. Vaulta’s data is excluded from Android’s cloud backup and device-to-device transfer, and from iPhone backups.

You can make your own backup whenever you like: Settings → Backup, Restore & Export → Create backup writes a file that you save wherever you choose, and you can restore it on a new phone from the same screen. The backup contains all your records and your receipt files, and it is not encrypted: anyone who has the file can read it, so keep it somewhere safe. A CSV export, from the same screen, contains the records you select; for receipts it contains their details only, not the images.

If you uninstall the app or reset your device without making a backup first, your data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered by us or by you.

Deleting your data

Deleting a receipt removes it and its attached files from the device. A deleted transaction or transfer disappears from the app and from your balances, but is kept in the database marked as deleted, and is included in backup files. To remove everything, uninstall Vaulta. Any backup or CSV file you saved earlier is a separate copy — delete it yourself wherever it is.

Children

Vaulta collects no data from anyone, of any age.

Changes to this policy

If the app changes in a way that affects this policy — including before sign-in, cloud sync or shared spaces are turned on — we will update this page and the “last updated” date above before releasing that version.
